A Small Downland Church with 12th-century Origins
St Margaret’s is a small, isolated church on the Berkshire Downs. Mainly 12th-century (the south doorway and font are of that period), it was much restored in 1845 and 1891.
The fine nave roof dates to 1607. Inside it is rustic and harmonious, clear windows illuminating cartwheel chandeliers, simple furnishings and a flagstone floor.
A single bell of 1700 hangs in the little bellcote.
